Simon Tunstall is the driving force behind Comex Ltd—a company purpose-built to solve the complex challenges of pressure control management in the oil, gas, and utilities industries. With over three decades of hands-on engineering and leadership experience, Simon’s career reflects a rare blend of technical mastery, sector insight, and innovative thinking.

Simon career included working as a Control and Instrumentation Specialist Engineer at National Grid, where he was entrusted with maintaining and enhancing the UK’s National Transmission System gas supply. His expertise spans:

Simon’s leadership extended internationally as Instrument and Control Lead Commissioning Engineer with Alstom Power, ABB and GE in the US, where he managed commissioning teams, programmed and tested DCS systems, and led complex control system design and integration projects.

Simon is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and an Incorporated Engineer (IEng), with a professional profile on the Engineering Council and a strong presence on LinkedIn. 

Simon’s approach is rooted in real-world problem-solving. He recognises the importance of achieving a net zero target by reducing constantly venting control system technology. Replacing pneumatic equipment during transitions to electronic instrumentation and ensuring operational reliability and safety throughout the upgrade process. This practical insight led to the development of Comex Ltd’s flagship product, the CYZER Range of products including the CYZER|O electronic override system and the CYZER|P electronic pressure control system —engineered to bridge the gap between traditional and modern control technologies.
